Antenora Architects Joins VLK Architects

Fort Worth, Texas - VLK Architects proudly announces that Antenora Architects has joined the firm to build upon and expand its commercial practice across the State of Texas. Michael Antenora, AIA, joins VLK as Principal– Commercial Practice Leader and will be responsible for leading VLK’s commercial practice, steering the firm’s approach to innovative commercial design, cultivating client relationships, and marketing across the state for the entire firm in this practice area. He will be supporting and collaborating with VLK’s principals, architects, and design teams in a variety of market sectors and on project types such as commercial, municipal, hospitality, mixed-use, and adaptive re-use projects. In addition, former Antenora staff members, James Garza and James Amos, will also join the VLK as part of the team.

“VLK is always looking to add top-level talent to our firm in all practice areas,” said Sloan Harris, VLK CEO/Partner. “Antenora Architects brings a vast amount of commercial project knowledge and expertise that will add nicely to VLK’s portfolio and strengthen our ability to continue building momentum in our commercial practice.”

Founded in 1997, Antenora Architects has been widely recognized for its handsome, responsive and innovative designs. Their work is based upon the belief that architecture should be responsive to the needs, aspirations, and culture of the people who use and occupy the building, but also that the building is contextually appropriate for the site, the region, and the broader community in which the building resides.

“Architecture is 95 percent about people and 5 percent about buildings,” said Michael Antenora, AIA.

This focus has led to many long-term client relationships including Endeavor Real Estate Group, Wheatsville Food Co-op, the Four Seasons Hotel Austin, the Texas Cities of Hutto, Kyle, and Elgin, Leander, University Federal Credit Unions, Kwik Chek, and the Texas Coffee Bean & Teas Leaf stores. The firm has also received numerous design awards from AIA Austin, Texas Society of Architects, Architect Magazine, The Architect’s Newspaper, Austin Business Journal, Texas Architect Magazine, and the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Most notably, the firm won the 2017 National AIA Honor Award for Excellence in Architectural Design for their Cotton Gin at the Co-Op District project.
