College Station ISD's Wellborn Middle School Designed for Collaboration and Flexibility

College Station, TX – On August 20th, College Station ISD and VLK Architects celebrated the start of a new school year and the opening of a new middle school in College Station ISD. Wellborn Middle School is the district’s third middle school bringing the district total to 18 campuses.

The district’s newest addition is located between Wellborn Road and Royder Road, near Pecan Trail Intermediate and Greens Prairie Elementary. The new middle school will serve approximately 900 students in grades 7 and 8. Wellborn Middle School continues the district's goal to align its facilities and create parity across all grade levels. Through design, curriculum and instructional pedagogies are paired with best practices of education.  Following suit with the district’s newest intermediate school, Pecan Trail, flexibility and collaboration were important features in the new design, which has been brought to life through neighborhood pods as well as with small and large group collaboration areas.

"CSISD is very excited to be opening up Wellborn Middle School this fall. This is the largest single project in our 2015 Bond Package and culminates a process that has been ongoing for the last 3 1/2 years. It has been a great cooperative effort, with VLK Architects leading the way,” said CSISD Executive Director of Facilities, Jon Hall. “The building looks great and perfectly meets our long list of requirements. The new staff is smiling, our parents are happy, and our students are thrilled. Our CSISD community is really fired up to support the Wellborn Middle School Warhawks!"
