Committed to Enhancing Learning Environments in Azle ISD

Azle, Texas – On August 15th, students returned to school at the newly renovated Silver Creek Elementary School in Azle ISD.  VLK has been involved in not only designing the original campus in 1984, but also small addition in 1986. This summer, VLK completed the newest additions and renovations package. The completed work consisted of nearly 40,000 sf of additions and over 8,000 sf of renovations.

The new classroom addition is a two-story building with 14 new classrooms, collaboration spaces on each floor, a learning stair, office suites, and specialty labs for science, motor skills, and other age appropriate learning opportunities. A new gymnasium was also added with a new office suite, 3,615 sf activity room, and a connected outdoor play area accessible through two coiling overhead doors.

Renovations to the existing building include an updated cafetorium with stage, renovated library with added maker space, expanded nurse room with waiting area, and renovated music, collaboration, and reception areas. New restrooms and water coolers were also added throughout the building.

Other Azle ISD campuses opening this fall are the new Azle Elementary and new Walnut Creek Elementary.

“It has been extremely rewarding to be a part of the project to modernize and expand Silver Creek Elementary,” said VLK Principal, Clinton Schiver. “It’s incredible to see a VLK campus that has already served its community for three decades, get a new life and be prepared for decades to come.”
