A Fresh Start for Katy ISD's Pattison & Golbow Elementary Schools

Katy, Texas – On August 15th, students and staff at Pattison and Golbow Elementary Schools returned for the 2018-19 school year to newly renovated campuses. VLK Architects was hired by Katy ISD to work in collaboration with Construction Manager Brookstone to incorporate next generation learning spaces and upgraded finishes into these existing K-5th grade campuses.

Both campuses received a total interior reconstruction of the administration, life skills spaces, and science labs. Renovations in the spaces throughout both buildings replaced the interior and exterior doors, casework, floor finishes, room signage, and graphics. Each school also received new paint and ceilings throughout.

Major renovations were made to the kitchen and serving areas to provide an additional serving line and a new cooler/freezer at each campus. Other renovated spaces throughout the buildings include classroom refreshes and updates to the library. Restrooms throughout the building were brought up to ADA standards and Life Safety and HVAC systems were replaced.

“The renovations completed at these two campuses have brought new life to these learning environments and extended the life of the entire building,” said VLK Architects Partner, Todd Lien.  “VLK is thankful to be a part of the exciting changes and innovations happening in Katy ISD.”
