Polk Elementary and Griffith Elementary Celebrate Opening of New Gymnasiums
Clute, Texas ' On January 24, Polk and Griffith Elementary Schools celebrated the opening of their new gymnasiums. VLK was awarded these projects in July of 2015 as part of a $175 million bond for Brazosport ISD. The bond work for each school included classroom additions, gymnasium buildings, the addition of drop-off/pick-up lanes, and additional parking. Each gymnasium is an independent, pre-engineered metal building of approximately 6,000 sf brick wainscoting, and has dedicated restrooms, and a canopy that ties into the existing building.
VLK construction administrator, Mike Sadler said, 'Attending the ribbon cutting was really rewarding because you get to see the students and administrators enjoy the spaces we've created for them. Students at Polk and Griffith now have safe, secure, spaces to play and VLK is so grateful for the opportunity to have a hand in this experience.'
