Haley Thurston Named CREW's Carla Higgins Future Leader of the Year
Fort Worth, Texas- On Wednesday, March 6th, at CREW’s (Commercial Real Estate Women) Annual Awards Luncheon, Haley Thurston, VLK Architects’ Associate, was named as the recipient for the Carla Higgins CREW Future Leader of the Year award. Since becoming a member of CREW Fort Worth in May 2018, Haley has jumped in on any opportunity offered through the organization such as joining the YWLA committee as part of CREW Fort Worth’s partnership with Fort Worth ISD, and accepting the 2018 Co-Chair and the 2019 Chair position on the CREW FW Partnership Committee.
“Joining a committee or small group in any organizations aids in deeper relationship building, a sense of belonging, and creates accountability,” said Haley Thurston, VLK Architects’ Associate. “I am incredibly grateful to have encountered some of the most visionary mentors through committee participation and other CREW events. Their guidance has not only inspired me to make a bigger impact of my own, but has taught me the skills to do so.”
On top of full time careers in their fields of expertise, CREW Fort Worth’s members volunteer their time towards establishing supportive relationships, pursuing excellence within our real estate communities, and providing mentorship opportunities to sustain future generations all in the effort to advancing Women in Commercial Real Estate.
“I wanted to embrace the same dedication that I see at CREW FW and at VLK to make a positive impact on my community and within my firm in any way possible,” said Thurston. “Knowing how much CREW and VLK has impacted my professional growth; taking full advantage of any opportunity to serve others is and always will be a major priority throughout my professional career.”

“Receiving this award is an incredible honor. I am continuously inspired by the excellent leaders within the CREW Fort Worth organization. To be recognized for exhibiting similar qualities as these men and women proves how affective community engagement can be. Being a part of CREW Fort Worth has truly encouraged me to make a bigger impact outside my own gain. This award validates the tremendous support and professional development I’ve received from CREW Fort Worth and from VLK Architects. VLK and CREW, together, have empowered me to grow as a leader and to serve with a sense that I can make an impact on any level,” said Haley Thurston, VLK Architects Associate.
“VLK Architects believes in unwavering support of the communities we serve and also in mentoring and supporting future leaders within the industry.
