VLK Announces Multiple Promotions to Associate
(Fort Worth, Texas) VLK Architects proudly announces Gabriella Bermea, Cody Jones, Collette King, Tosin Kusa, and Brad Minton are promoted to Associate positions. To become an Associate, individuals must be self-motivated and consistently demonstrate the initiative, talent, and commitment of assuming additional responsibilities and leadership roles. Associates exhibit deep knowledge of the architectural industry, develop and strengthen relationships with clients and business partners, guide and enhance staff development, and contribute to the advancement of VLK Architects.
Gabriella Bermea, AIA, NCARB, LEED® AP - As a project designer, Gabriella leads the design process of a project from preliminary planning through design development. Gabriella works alongside the project team to oversee the implementation of the design throughout the construction documents and construction administration phase to ensure the design intent is met.
Bermea earned her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Arkansas. She joined the firm in 2020 and has since become a licensed architect and a key player in our community driven VLK | LAUNCH process, interviews, design, and advocacy. With heart and intense focus, she is always willing to go the extra mile to do what is right both in and out of the office.
Cody Jones - Cody oversees the work of the marketing departments creative team to plan and execute various creative pieces including Experience Magazine, print and digital media, collateral pieces for all market sectors and graphic support for Statements of Qualification. Working with VLK’s Marketing Director and Chief Creative Officer, she developed the firm’s school branding and graphics process, VLK | Pixel, to be efficient and scalable to a variety of project types and has been instrumental in creating the documents from which these projects are bid and installed.
Jones holds both a Bachelor of Arts, Graphic Design as well as Bachelor of Business Administration, Entrepreneurial Management from Texas Christian University. Since joining VLK in 2016 she has dedicated herself to maintaining the firm’s brand standards, corporate style guidelines, and a multitude of other tasks along the way.
Colette King, RID, NCIDQ - As Interior Designer, Colette creates comprehensive, functional, and aesthetically pleasing interior environments. She is a big believer is spaces that promote a healthy mental state, which she accomplishes through design elements, material usage, and colors. Her vast knowledge of products and materials, as well as her excellent design skills, ensures that each client has a space that will not only function properly but will be enjoyed for years to come.
King earned her Bachelor of Science, Interior Design degree from Texas State University-San Marcos. She joined VLK in 2018 and has a talent for building strong relationships with clients that help make VLK successful.
Tosin Kusa, AIA, NCARB - Since joining VLK in 2020, Tosin has been responsible for managing the design and production process, coordinating consultant documents, leading client meetings, and overseeing the project team in the documentation of project deliverables and permitting. His VLK project experience is highlighted by his work on Braswell High School Additions and the LaGrone Academy Additions for Denton ISD, Ereckson Middle School Renovations for Allen ISD, and a replacement Dallas ISD Middle School.
Kusa received both his Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Science in Architecture degrees from Mississippi State University. With each project he has undertaken, he has proven his dedication to our clients in not only producing a quality set of documents but providing exceptional service throughout the project. His mindfulness and sense of urgency in doing the right thing for his clients is just a part of what makes Tosin a valuable member of our team.
Brad Minton - Brad joined VLK in 2013 and since then has had the unique privilege of being involved in many of the firm’s projects, as Director of Experience Design. Working with all project teams in the firm, leadership, and the client, Brad crafts a cohesive visual for the project through which clients can experience VLK’s work and in turn communicate with their communities. Brad works with the entire design team, clients, and community to develop state of the art project renderings and videos that capture the story behind the project.
Minton received both his Bachelor of Science, Architecture and Master of Architecture degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington. His unique combination of skills has helped take a small visualization initiative and grow it into a digital creative agency and production studio inside VLK. His work has contributed volumes to VLK’s service and certainly distinguished us in the industry.
