VLK Architects Celebrates a Soft-Opening for Little Elm Waterpark: The Cove at The Lakefront™

Little Elm, Texas, (March 12, 2021) —VLK Architects and the associates from the city of Little Elm gathered to celebrate and test out the new waterpark during a soft opening of The Cove at The Lakefront™.

"We're thrilled to be able to show residents and visitors The Cove™. This one of a kind project has been highly anticipated by the community for the last few years, and it's exciting to be able to bring it to fruition," said Chad Hyde, Director of Community Services of Little Elm's Parks, Recreation & Facilities.

The Cove™ is a 42,000 SF project featuring attractions such as a Flow Rider, a large KNA slide, a wading pond for small children, a rock-climbing wall, a lazy river, and more. The interior design theme was "lake living," and Lake Lewisville's proximity inspired the colors and materials used.

"We are so excited for the Cove at Lakefront to open to the public. It is a tremendous facility for the residents of the Town of Little Elm, but also a unique destination for families that live in the DFW metroplex. There are a couple of attractions that cannot be found anywhere else in North Texas. It was such an honor to work on this project and translate the vision of the Town of Little Elm into an extraordinary facility for the residents to enjoy," said Justin Hiles, AIA, COO of VLK Architects.

OpenAire provided the building envelope, a custom aluminum composite structure with operable roof panels that can control the indoor temperature and humidity for the most comfortable atmosphere year-round. Other features include three party rooms, an expansive mezzanine area, and six poolside cabanas.

According to The Cove™ official website, the $21-million waterpark will officially open to the public on Saturday, March 13, 2021.
