VLK Architects' Erin Rose named IIDA Houston City Center Sustainability Co-Chair

Houston, TX – VLK Interior Designer, Erin Rose, was nominated to be the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Houston City Center Sustainability Co-Chair for 2018-2020. The Houston City Center is one of the eight City Centers in the IIDA Texas Oklahoma Chapter. Rose will begin her term as Sustainability Co-Chair in June of 2018.

Rose has been practicing Interior Design for over five years. She started her career working in high-end residential and model home design before joining the VLK team in August of 2016. Since joining VLK, she has been a key team member in leading educational and commercial interiors projects for the Houston office. Rose is a registered interior designer and an active member of IIDA and the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

Rose has been an IIDA member since January 2017 and joined the Zero Landfill committee for the Houston City Center in August of 2017. Zero Landfill is an event promoting sustainability in the architecture and design community through the reuse and repurposing of materials. The Houston City Center collects unused building materials and samples from architecture and design firms, organizes them, and then through a two day event, gives teachers, artists, and the general public an opportunity to take them for reuse.

As Sustainability Co-Chair, Rose will be responsible for assisting the Chair in running Zero Landfill Committee Meetings, organizing the event, and finding sponsors. The Co-Chair is also responsible for organizing a sustainability continuing education unit (CEU) for all members of IIDA in the Houston area and generally promoting sustainability throughout the Houston architecture and design community.  Additional responsibilities include attending monthly IIDA Houston City Center council meetings, as well as other council events.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to serve on the IIDA Houston City Center Council,” said Rose. “Sustainability is becoming more and more of an issue within the A&D community and it is great to be able to promote the causes, as well as support IIDA.”
