VLK Wins Tallest Structure Award at 12th Annual AIA Gingerbread Build-Off

(Houston, Texas) - On December 11th, VLK Architects competed in the 12th Annual American Institute of Architects (AIA) Houston Gingerbread Build-Off. The Houston team received the Tallest Structure Award for their “A Charlie Brown Christmas” gingerbread house, which measured 31 inches tall.

“Each year, there is great anticipation for this event. Months before registration is open, there’s always chatter of what we will build next,” said Krista Thomas, VLK’s team captain. “Through teamwork and a bit of concentration, this event allows our creative juices to flow and allows us to explore new mediums of design. The build can be daunting to those who are new to edible materials such as Fondant and buttercream, but luckily we have a vast talent pool.”
