
VLK Wins Best Use of Materials Award at AIA Fort Worth Gingerbread Build-Off
(Fort Worth, Texas) - On December 10th, VLK Architects competed in the first American Institute of Architects (AIA) Fort Worth Gingerbread Build-Off. VLK received the Best Use of Materials Award for their Polar Express-themed gingerbread house, named “All Aboard!”
“It was an honor to compete in AIA Fort Worth’s first-ever gingerbread competition,” said Amy Routh, VLK’s team captain. “Our team comprised a rich cross-section of our office from many different departments. We were able to execute our build with teamwork and a lot of laughter.”


VLK’s gingerbread house consisted of two extra-large gingerbread houses, four bags of white royal icing, three containers of red icing, three containers of green icing, four bags of Fondant, five boxes of Rice Krispies, one pack of ice cream cones, six bags of shredded coconut, one box of Oreos, sprinkles, decorative sugar candies, melted chocolate and caramel, and peppermint stick columns to brace the heavy roofs.
The Fort Worth team members included: Clarissa Epps, Morgan Leos, Angela Mitchell, Daylee Mitchell, Alex Nelson, Amy Routh, Kayse Thomas, and Haley Pearce.
