Car Wash Air Foil

Set behind a dormant greenspace adjacent to the main highway, the site of the car wash challenged designers to conceptualize a structure that draws attention from highway motorists. The facility is part of a new retail and office development on a relatively disadvantaged parcel in terms of accessibility. Inspired by the functional aerodynamic wings of Formula 1 race cars, VLK designed the Air Foil. The long car wash bay is enveloped by a galvanized steel flair that glows and shimmers throughout the day with the sun’s movement.
