Near South Studios

When Near South Studios decided to relocate its office space and studios to a 1920’s-era cold storage warehouse, they challenged VLK to deliver a design with no straight walls. This adaptive reuse of the 8,000-SF facility offered interesting design challenges. In addition to their spaces, they wanted to include small offices to lease to creative professionals. The design amalgamates new elements with the character-defining old, including existing brick walls and prefab cooler structure. The existing steel beams throughout the building were painted a bright, contrasting green to highlight the structural framework.
