On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, VLK joined Waxahachie ISD students and administration, community members, and Pogue Construction to break ground on the district’s second comprehensive high school, to be named Waxahachie Creek High School. Located near Lake Waxahachie and Highway 77, this 520,000 sf campus will serve up to 3,200 students, providing essential space for the district’s rapidly growing student population and securing the foundation for generations of learning.

Designed as an innovative yet timeless facility, the campus will feature specialized learning environments tailored to support collaboration, problem solving, and career readiness. The campus will incorporate glazed openings for natural light, a flexible and technology-rich classroom design, and a centrally located library that will serve as a vibrant hub for students. Purposefully designed spaces will include a dedicated Career and Technology Education (CTE) wing with advanced labs for automotive, cosmetology, forensics, health science, veterinary medicine, and engineering, fostering innovation and hands-on learning. In addition to these academic spaces, the school will offer robust athletics and fine arts programs with state-of-the-art facilities, including an 800-seat auditorium, an indoor practice facility, two auxiliary gymnasiums, and a full athletic complex with baseball, softball, track and field, soccer, and football fields. These facilities, paired with modern dining areas and landscaped courtyards, create an environment that inspires student engagement and supports Waxahachie ISD’s commitment to preparing students for future success.

“This milestone represents more than the start of construction, but the progress of a community united in its vision for the future. I look forward to seeing how this new campus will empower and provide more opportunities for students in Waxahachie ISD.”

Jonathan Aldis | VLK Chief Operations Officer

The funding for the district’s second high school was included in the voter-approved May 2023 bond. With the groundbreaking marking the start of construction, Waxahachie ISD plans to welcome students and staff to the new campus at the beginning of the 2027-2028 school year.
