Bringing over 31 years of leadership experience in Texas public education, Dr. Chadwell joins as Senior Associate | K-12 Specialist, strengthening VLK’s commitment to designing schools that align with districts’ teaching and learning goals.
Dr. Jim F. Chadwell’s career spans teaching at the high school and college levels and serving in administrative roles such as high school principal, deputy superintendent, and superintendent. A longtime advocate for public education, Dr. Chadwell has worked closely with elected officials, state associations, and stakeholders to support public education initiatives and ensure the benefit of all Texas children. At VLK, he will represent the firm at the state and local levels, advocating for a legislative agenda that supports public education and promotes VLK’s mission of providing innovative solutions to school districts and fostering strategic partnerships with key organizations.

Dr. Chadwell’s dedication to education and community leadership has earned him numerous accolades, including Texas High School Principal of the Year, Region XI Superintendent of the Year and Top 5 State Finalist, Texas Christian University College of Education’s Excellence in Education Award, and Saginaw Citizen of the Year. His commitment to infrastructure and community engagement was honored with a Fort Worth walking trail named after him, recognizing his efforts to improve pedestrian connectivity. Most recently, EMS ISD named its Administration and Discovery Lab facility in his honor following his retirement—an innovative space designed by VLK that received the prestigious Caudill Award and distinctions in design, wellness, community impact, planning, and school transformation. “Dr. Chadwell’s extensive experience and unwavering dedication to public education make him an exceptional addition to the VLK | EDGE® team,” said Dr. Dalane Bouillion, Chief Development Officer at VLK. “As VLK broadens its educational consulting services, Dr. Chadwell’s tenure in public education will be instrumental in advocating for student success and support of public education.”
