Interior Designer
Location: Fort Worth
VLK Architects is seeking a full-time Interior Designer in our Fort Worth office for both corporate and educational (K-12 & Higher Ed) projects due to the high growth and expansion we are experiencing. This position will work to design functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing spaces based on program requirements while working with the project team in the documentation of project deliverables. This person will work alongside the project team during the construction administration phase to ensure the design intent is met.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment leading and managing multiple projects simultaneously. A technical and analytical focus is desired, along with the ability to work within established systems, standards, and procedures. Decision-making by this position must be proactive and authoritative, based on knowledge and experience to minimize risk.
Responsibilities
- Develops design solutions for interior spaces of projects based on the client’s initial project goals and utilizes design applications to prepare and illustrate solutions to stakeholders
- Coordinates the implementation of design intent into construction documents, specifications, and construction administration with the project team, including consultants
- Leads the selection and documentation of finishes and prepares material palettes for presentation to the client. Once approved, supports the team in the documentation of finishes and assists in the production of specifications for the selected finishes
- Selects and coordinates furnishings to align with project objectives
- Assists and monitors the project team to ensure the feasibility of produced designs aligns with project goals
- Proactive in personal professional development and development of team members
Requirements
Academic/Professional:
- Professional degree in Interior Design from a CIDA accredited university
- Registered Interior Designer or pursuing licensure
- LEED AP and/or WELL AP preferred

- Documented experience leading and mentoring project teams
- Self-motivated, team player with analytical problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills
- Adept organization skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and adjust work accordingly to meet quick deadlines
- Resolves conflict effectively and encourages a healthy team environment
- Proficiency with relevant industry software, including Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and MS Office
Physical Requirements:
- While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to engage in verbal communication
- The employee frequently is required to sit or stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
- The employee will occasionally climb ladders to review existing conditions at a job site and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience working in an Architectural or Interior Design firm
- Experience in K-12, Higher Ed, and Commercial market sectors is preferred
