Waller ISD Waller Junior High School

The additions and comprehensive renovations to Waller Junior High transformed separate campuses into a unified, future-focused learning environment for 1,500 students. Incorporating existing facilities such as the auditorium, fine arts spaces, competition gym, and field house, VLK’s design creates a cohesive campus that balances legacy and innovation. Thoughtful site planning and architectural expression reestablish the school’s identity within the district while supporting Waller ISD’s continued growth and commitment to safe, engaging learning environments. VLK thoughtfully phased the building to allow for minimal disruption to the active learning environment during construction while also maintaining the required program of learning spaces through each phase.

VLK Services Involved:

Waller Junior High presented a unique challenge rooted in its long history and the merging of three aging campuses into a single, cohesive learning environment. VLK’s design redefined the site to unify these once-separate facilities, honoring the school’s legacy while establishing a renewed sense of identity and purpose for students and staff. Organized into distinct grade-level neighborhoods, the new 252,776 sf campus creates smaller learning communities within a large framework, each with classrooms, science labs, collaboration areas, and administrative suites. Flexible CTE spaces, a modernized auditorium, and expanded fine arts and performance areas reflect Waller ISD’s commitment to growth  and student success for generations to come.
