Brazosport ISD and VLK Architects Celebrate the Groundbreaking of the New CTE Center at Brazosport High School

(Freeport, Texas) – On Monday morning, May 22, 2023, Brazosport ISD alongside VLK Architects broke ground on the new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center at Brazosport High School. When completed, the school will provide outstanding career pathways, equipping students with the skills necessary for success in the 21st-century workforce.

“VLK is very fortunate to have partnered with Brazosport ISD in the design of the Brazosport High School CTE Center,” said Monika Castillo, Principal at VLK Architects. “The new building and addition will allow the district to continue delivering instruction for the betterment of their students’ futures.”

The new 76,000sf CTE Center will feature a dedicated entry from Brazosport High School and will offer a variety of special programs for students such as cosmetology, veterinary technology, floral design, journalism, and more. The new facility will provide workshops for agricultural engineering, welding, and construction programs. Each workshop will have dedicated classroom space for instruction, and all shops will have access to an outdoor secured yard to allow students additional workspace. New learning spaces will incorporate ample natural daylight and durable interior finishes while exterior finishes will complement the existing Brazosport High School.

The cosmetology lab will include stations for hair styling, manicures, pedicures, and facial treatments while the veterinary tech lab will offer space for animal treatment and grooming. Yearbook, journalism, and audio/video programs will feature spaces for students interested in multimedia production, including a podcast room, green screen room, and control room.

“Our new Career and Technical Education building will serve as a hub of innovation, fostering creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning,” said Danny Massey, Superintendent of Brazosport ISD. “This facility will provide our students with access to cutting-edge technology, modern workshops, and industry-standard equipment across a wide range of disciplines. Together, we will build not only a physical structure for our students today, but also a legacy of excellence for generations to come.”

The Brazosport High School CTE Center is funded through the 2019 Bond and is projected to be completed in December 2024.
