(Katy, Texas) – On Monday evening, VLK was proud to join Katy ISD and the greater Katy community in celebrating the official dedication of Alfred and Ann Boudny Elementary School. The event featured heartfelt remarks from retired Katy ISD educator and school namesake Alfred Boudny, along with Principal Ashabranner, and Katy ISD Board Vice President Rebecca Fox, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ken Gregorski, other district representatives, as well as the Boudnys’ daughter, Alyssa, recognizing the legacy and community support behind the campus. Following the ceremony, attendees were invited to explore the school through self-guided tours, offering an up-close look at the learning environments designed with Katy ISD students in mind.
“This campus was designed with the future in mind—bright, open spaces for collaboration, flexible learning environments, energy-efficient design, and state-of-the-art technology,” said Principal Ashabranner.
Both Alfred and Ann Boudny devoted their careers to public education, with decades of service supporting the growth and success of Katy ISD. Throughout their tenure, the Boudnys helped open and shape multiple campuses, served in instructional leadership roles, mentored educators, and contributed to districtwide academic initiatives, leaving a lasting impact on students and staff across the district. Even in retirement, they remain actively engaged in supporting education through continued volunteerism and involvement with the Katy Area Retired Educators. In recognition of their enduring influence and commitment to the community, the Katy ISD Board of Trustees approved the naming of Alfred and Ann Boudny Elementary School at its December 2024 meeting, a decision met with strong community support.
The Boudnys were active participants in the development of Boudny Elementary School, a prototype campus designed address rapid growth in Katy ISD’s northwest quadrant, including the Elyson area. Designed to serve up to 1,386 students in grades pre-K through 5, the two-story campus emphasizes accessibility and student development. Dedicated grade-level pods, shared gathering spaces, learning stairs, and updated technology further support collaboration, flexibility, and modern instruction throughout the campus.
“We’re excited to partner with Katy ISD in serving the district’s continued growth,” said Chuck Johnson, Principal at VLK. “Having this school named for the Boudnys, who dedicated so much of their lives to Katy ISD and public education, truly reflects what this work is all about.”
The Boudnys’ legacy lives on in the culture of the campus, where the motto is to “lead with kindness, learn with heart, and trailblaze together.”
