Denton Comprehensive High School No. 4 is on its way to serve the 380 Corridor
FORT WORTH, Texas - Construction has officially begun for the new Comprehensive High No. 4 for Denton ISD. The project will be a new flagship high school that will serve the 380 Corridor and be a uniting force for the Denton community.
VLK Architects and Balfour Beatty Construction commenced planning for this unique high school in January 2013. Among its many distinctive characteristics are flexible learning spaces, more than 50 sustainability features and a design that would allow for high-volume, after-hours use. It will welcome an initial student population of 2,400 but is designed to be expandable to serve more in later years.
The school campus will be located right off Highway 380, a vital location to serve the 380 corridor and a gateway into Denton ISD from the east.
'Denton Comprehensive High No. 4 will be an anchor to the community there,' said Leesa Vardeman, VLK Architects Principal. 'However, this high school is poised to do more than just serve a community; it will create a history that binds the 380 Corridor communities' philosophy toward education. It is a great win for everyone.'
The fourth high school for Denton ISD will be ready for student use in August 2016. A groundbreaking ceremony is currently scheduled for November 4.
