Houston, Texas - Last week, Friends of Texas Public Schools, an organization that seeks to raise awareness of the successes and accomplishments in the Texas public school system, appointed VLK's own Dr. Dalane Bouillion as a new member of their Board of Directors. This accomplishment is just a small representation of Dr. Bouillion's influence in the public school system due to her years of experience as a teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, and as VLK's Educational Planner.

Dr. Bouillion knew she wanted to be a teacher from an early age and pursued that passion throughout college graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, and in 1994 with a master's degree in Education. Dr. Bouillion became an Assistant Principal in 1996, and a Principal in 1999. During her principalship, she began her doctoral work, and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with her Doctor of Education degree in 2004. In her 23 years as an educator and administrator, she has left a lasting legacy in the public school system and has won numerous awards such as, the American Education Research Association/Research on Women and Education's Woman of the Year. Being selected to be on the Board of Directors for Friends of Texas Public Schools (FOTPS) is yet another accolade that Dr. Bouillion can add to her impressive list of accomplishments.

'I am honored to serve with Friends of Texas Public Schools, and am thrilled to be part of such a tremendous organization,' said Dr. Bouillion. 'There is a magnitude of greatness that occurs in our schools. The mission of FOTPS is to share that good news! I am looking forward to my new responsibility and continue to be humbled by the difference that our school districts make in the lives of students daily.'

FOTPS uses their Board of Directors as trusted advisors, and all of the individuals who make up the Board have impressive experience in supporting public education throughout the state. They have varied backgrounds but create a strong network of support for school districts. FOTPS desires to make the growth and accomplishments of public education in Texas known. All of these esteemed individuals believes in celebrating the successes of public education and desires to share the stories of the improvement and growth that has been made since its inception.

'This is a wonderful accomplishment for Dr. Bouillion and a testament to her reputation amongst leaders in public education in the state,' said Sloan Harris, VLK Principal. 'Furthermore, her hard work that this appointment recognizes is another great stride forward as VLK continues to drive thought leadership in education design for public school districts in Texas.
