Tang Named Volunteer of the Year for IIDA Texas/Oklahoma Dallas City Center

Oklahoma City, OK- Friday, March 22nd, the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) held a Chapter Leadership Summit in which Marissa Tang, Interior Designer, RID, NCIDQ, IIDA, with VLK Architects, was awarded Volunteer of the Year for the IIDA Texas/Oklahoma Chapter Dallas City Center. A council member for four years, she has spent the last two years facilitating the National Certification for Interior Designers (NCIDQ) study course.

“IIDA has played a big role in my career growth. I feel very grateful to be nominated and selected for the local award by my peers,” said Marissa Tang, Interior Designer, VLK Architects.

To win the award, members must make a significant impact through volunteer efforts. As the NCIDQ chair, Tang has mentored many interior design professionals as they prepare to pass the NCIDQ exam.

On top of full time careers, IIDA Texas/Oklahoma members volunteer their time towards serving their communities by advancing initiatives, practicing leadership skills, and working with other individuals in the industry. The Dallas City Center is one of eight city centers making up the largest IIDA TX/OK chapter in the nation. The IIDA advocates for the profession of interior design by encouraging NCIDQ certification through a study course offered twice a year.

“We are very proud to have Marissa as a part of our firm. Marissa embodies the core values we have here at VLK - dedication to quality service and long lasting client relationships,” said Sloan Harris, Partner, VLK Architects.
