VLK Architects joins Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD in the Ribbon Cutting of Hatley Elementary School

(Fort Worth, Texas) – On Tuesday, August 29, 2023, VLK Architects alongside Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD inaugurated the opening of Elizabeth Lopez Hatley Elementary School with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The event was attended by students, campus and district staff, community members, and design and construction teams. This project is the 18th elementary school in the district serving pre-K through fifth grade students.

"We are honored here every day to say that we work at Elizabeth Lopez Hatley Elementary School," said Terrilin Holz, the school's principal. "It has been an absolute joy to bring together such an elite group of educators, begin to build relationships within this community, and foster a place in this beautiful facility where our Falcons can call home here in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD.

The design for the school features a dramatic, angular front entry, an open-concept library, and allows for ample sunlight and transparency throughout the campus. The school is named in honor of Elizabeth Lopez Hatley, long-time educator and board member known for her dedication, passion, and impact across the district.

“VLK Architects is honored by the opportunity to develop this new elementary prototype for Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD,” said Josh Wilson, Project Architect at VLK Architects. “We hope it embodies the passion for education and learning that Mrs. Hatley brings to the district.”

The school opened its doors to students and staff at the start of the 2023-2024 school year and is the final project included in the 2018 bond.
