River Bend Elementary School Welcomes Students for 2019/20 School Year

College Station, Texas – On August 15th, College Station ISD celebrated the opening of its newest campus, River Bend Elementary School. The school is the fifth prototype elementary school that VLK Architects has produced for the district and will house 800 students throughout 90,134 square feet.

“So many things happen without students involved, but all for the benefit of the students,” said Robyn Jones, Principal, River Bend Elementary School. “It’s just the most fabulous feeling getting to see it all come to fruition and seeing the looks on their faces when they walk in.”

Designed to serve Pre-K through 4th grade, River Bend Elementary School features dedicated grade-level classroom wings that each have a collaboration area located at the entrance and direct access to a canopy-covered outdoor learning area. The building is organized to allow public use of the gymnasium and cafeteria without access to the classroom wings. With a relationship that spans over 20-years, VLK Architects has designed notable projects for College Station ISD such as the campus-wide renovations and additions to A&M Consolidated High School, Cypress Grove Intermediate School, College View High School, Pecan Trail Intermediate School, and Wellborn Middle School.

“VLK is honored to be a part of the College Station ISD team and the opening of its 10th elementary school,” said Melissa Fleming, Principal, VLK Architects. “We are excited to see this campus welcome the next generation of learners.”
